Actors Wanted
An actor develops their own unique character, no matter what role they are playing. A character moves from one play to another, and from one movie to another, as an actor grows and becomes. Robin Williams for example, aspired to more humourous roles earlier in his career; Laugh In, Popeye, The World According to Garp, Mork and Mindy-- and especially with films like Mrs. Doubtfire and Jumanji, and even Aladdin. But if you look closely you can tell there was a darker undertone to the stories and something deeper within the character-- and that I believe has a direct relation to why he chose to be part of those productions.
Later in his career, he did several movies that didn't receive the credit they deserved-- Insomnia, Bicentennial Man, Death To Smoochy, House of D, The Final Cut, One Hour Photo, AI, What Dreams May Come, Patch Adams, Jakob the Liar.... Through all of these movies, it's the exact same growing developing character. An actors biggest responsibility outside of their particular roles and lines, and whatever true or exaggerate reality the writer forges, its developing that personal character. Who the hell are you? And how does this particular role bring out your character?
Tell me. What's your character? Who do you aspire to be? What sorts of traits and qualities do you have, and what do you want out of this cathartic sort career? You have what it takes to be a huge star, and I know you will put yourself entirely into every production you are a part of. Why? Because that's who you are, and every single role-- good or bad, is just that. A role. Nobody will truly think of you as a particular role, but will instead remember the qualities you bring out to touch peoples hearts.
